— As Dr Chidi Lloyd Reiterates His Administration’s Commitment To Righting The Wrongs In The Council Nominal Roll
The executive chairman of Emohua local government council, Dr Chidi Lloyd has reiterated his administration’s commitment to righting the wrongs in the payroll of the local government council through the biometric verification of the council nominal roll.
Dr Lloyd said his administration was able to embark on critical infrastructural projects across the local government area in the past few months out of the recoveries made from overpayment of salary and other irregularities intercepted in the council nominal roll on assumption of office.
The council chairman stated this at the commencement of biometrics verification exercise for staff of the council holding at Ojims college, Rumuji town, Emohua LGA on Monday.
He noted that the number of ghost workers in the council nominal roll who received salaries from the comfort of their homes and those who came into the council payroll through the back door are the reason why previous administrations in the local government area couldn’t embark on projects, stressing that the days when non staff of the council received salaries from the common wealth of the people were over.
Dr Lloyd who supervised the biometric verification exercise himself, with the assistance of auditors from Rivers State local government service commission and principal officers of the local government council, enjoined all genuine staff of the council to present themselves for the exercise which is expected to last for one week, with the necessary documents, to authenticate their employment, stating that only those cleared through the physical biometrics will be captured in the council payroll.
He however maintained that the biometric exercise was not aimed at witch-hunting any person or group of persons, emphasizing that the exercise became necessary following the amount of criminally masterminded irregularities in the council payroll, which has over the years hindered development in the local government area.
The biometric exercise also featured the issuance of staff identity cards to successfully verified staff of the council.
